I featured Baguio first since i’m from Baguio, so i would love to invite you here and enjoy the coolness and beautiful scenery in our city and most especially the upcoming festival in our city this coming month of February 2008, “THE PENAGBENGA FESTIVAL”.

The City of Baguio – is a first class highly urbanized city in the Philippines.

Baguio city was designated by the Philippine commission as the SUMMER CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES on June 01, 1903. There is a presidential mansion as well as Supreme Court and Legislative offices.

Baguio is the seat of government of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). The name of the city is derived from the word BAG-IW in IBALOI, the indigenous language of the Benguet Region, meaning “MOSS”. The city is at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters (5,100 feet) in a moist tropical pine forest conducive to the growth of mossy plants and orchids.Baguio’s temperature is eight (8) degrees centigrade cooler on the lowlands. When Manila sweats at thirty five (35) degrees centigrade or above, Baguio seldom exceeds at twenty six (26) degrees centigrade at its warmest. Baguio is very wet during rainy season starting from June to October. it gets the biggest amount of rainfall in the country. However from November to May, Baguio becomes a tropical paradise, a refreshing break from the hot and humid climate on other parts of the Philippines. Christmas season is when Baguio glows with the nippy winter air until february. In the summer month of March until May, Baguio lives up to its title as the “SUMMER CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES” when thousands of visitors from the lowlands, Metro Manila, other parts of the country and tourist from other countries around the world take their annual exodus to the city to cool off.ACCESS TO BAGUIO

  • The city can be reached through three main roads namely: Kennon Road (the easiest way to Baguio), Marcos Highway and Naguillan Road.
  • Currently, a local airline ASIAN SPIRIT flies daily from Manila to Baguio from 9:00 o’clock in the morning and arrives at Baguio Loakan Airport at 9:50 a.m. and it flies back to Manila at 10:05 a.m. As you land at the Loakan Airport you will notice that very deep ravines are found at both ends of the runway. It is because the airport have been constructed right on top of the mountain. Flights to Baguio are scheduled only in the morning as visibility approaches zero in the afternoon when the fog started to move in and cover most of the area surrounding the airport.
